this is my irish hiking scarf. i have only worked on it about two times. today at knitting (at my local library) i worked on it for almost two hours straight. yellow is my new favorite color!

so apparently i like to do reviews on television shows. one of my favorite shows is army wives on lifetime. it is SOOOOOOOOOOO good. i dont really know how to explain it but i just recommend you watch it.

school has been out for awhile.

but i havent been doing much knitting. i did however start the Irish Hiking Scarf. in like a bright yellow yarn. i hope it turns out cute.

i have been listening to kniiting podcasts. this isnt a new development but i have a point...lol. the two i listen two the most are Belle of the Ball and Knit Naturally. Their voices are soothing in some sort. The ONLY thing i don't like about some podcasts is that they play music. i dont mind when they play thee musis at the end so much. but at the beginning and in the middle and at the end..it gets...i dont want to say annoying...but yea. i'm sure the music is good and if i was knitting it probably wouldnt be so bad..but i usually listen while i am trying to get to sleep.

ok so on to another subject.

right now i am watching tv. the show is called "Chain Gang Girls" on WE. its about 15 women in a chain gang. these women are the only women in a chain gang. i tihnk it is a good show. it shows the realization of what can happen if you dont do something good with your life. some of these people, though, just dont get it. i have already watched an hour of it and some of them are ridiculous. if you see it on sometime, you should defiantely attempt to watch it.

is the most amazing place on earth.

i think everyone should visit it.

i do not think i will be visiting any knitting stores though. i wish i could. my parents have this whole thing about not letting me do anything about knitting.

right now i am sitting in border's in chicago. by myself while my parents are at a cub's game. i got to go to one yesterday. we are staying in a condo that a friend let us use. we don't get internet access there so my mom said i could go to this tea place a few blocks from the condo. i got a drink and sat down. wi-fi costs money there. so i went to border's because i thought it was free. it isn't free here either. so my mom gave me the credit card number and i got a 60 minute pass.

i am so excited that my parents let me do this. most kids would have to stay in the hotel or something. but no...i get to walk around by myself. ok i think i got everything out.

i haven't really been knitting a lot lately. idk why. lots of friend problems. but that means i should be knitting to relieve stress. i want to knit, but i don't really have time to. ug. and plus i haven't found the right thing to make. i need to start working on christmas knitting. i have lots of things to make.

so hm...for me...school gets out for me in like 17 days. i am super psyched!! i think i spelled that wrong. and band starts soon!! i can't wait to be an upperclassman!! WOOOOOOOH HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

knitting is good and you should go do some!

so i haven't posted in a while. but i am not sure what to talk about. not much knitting has been going on. i finished the picot edge on lorna's laces one hank socks on black dog designs blog.

in english ten honors we are reading jane eyre by charlotte bronte. i have had a horrible time of comprehending it. today it dawned on me that maybe, just maybe, they would have the book on recording. i have downloaded a few books from Librivox.org and they have been good. so i figured jane eyre was old enough to be on there. and luckily it was. for the weekend my teacher had given us more than 80 pages to read. i have downloaded the Librivox recorded Jane Eyre and am half way through chapter 22 (we have to "read" through 23. i'll be able to finish the 23rd chapter by the time i go to english. i wonder if it is wrong that i downloaded the recorded version...any opinions? i hope i am no a horrible person.

the froggy days of spring break

it's sad really. it is already thursday night. to some kids this would be a good thing. but for me it is horrible really. tomorrow (friday march 28, 2008)is the last day of spring break. this week went so fast. how come all good things end so fast? last week was great because my parents were out of town and i was able to spend the entire week with one of my best friends. it was so fun. a lot of late nights and early mornings. and this week is spring break. i think this has gone by faster than the speed of light. at least i'm pretty sure that is fast...:)

on to the knitting content of this knitting blog. so i frogged the "back to basics" socks from knitty. i read the pattern COMPLETELY wrong. i'm pretty sure they would've turned out really nice though. they are a toe up sock. the toe increase made the toe look more square. you should go check it out. so i decided to start the Lorna's Laces One Hank Socks. both of these patterns are on ravelry. the lorna's laces socks are top down. i have yet to finish a pair or even one top down sock/s. the yarn the original pair was done is it SO pretty. i have literally only knit 3 rows of this sock. once i get more done, which will hopefully be by tomorrow evening, i will post pictures on this blog and ravelry.

does anyone live in the mid-eastish of this country? did anyone see the crap they call weather tonight? it started out by raining all day. then around four it began snowing. oh no! this was no ordinary snow. this snow was the size of my head. ok, so maybe it was a tad smaller but still, it was gigantic! then it stopped. this made me happy. but to my surprise, it started snowing AGAIN!!! it has been snowing ever since. it has been snowing for about four hours. (how come four and hour don't rhyme? ) the roads and every driveway are covered. and i am pretty sure it has been raining on top of that. i may have pictures tomorrow.

well i hope everyone has had or does have a pleasant spring break.

i haven't posted in awhile. i'm not really sure what to talk about. i haven't really been knitting all that much lately. I started the back to basics socks on knitty. but i can't really tell you how i like them because i have only just started the toe. it is a toe up sock and i am using one circ...in other words i am using magic loop. i seem to like that method. my first pair of socks was using that method. my attempt at a second pair was top down and it ended up being to tight. (UG!) that pair was trying to be knit on dpns. i would like to give top down another chance but maybe using magic loop or 2 circs. if any of you find a good (free) pattern that is simple, maybe a tad lace or detail, then feel free to tell me about it.

anyone in marching band? then you'll know what i'm talking about. last week we got our schedules for this season. we have at least 30 hours more of practice than last season. i'm not sure if you guys have this in other states but Indiana has added a semi-state. so that means at regionals they pick 10 bands from the north and ten bands from the south. then they all go to semi-state then there they pick the top ten bands. those ten bands go to indianapolis to compete for the title of state champion. if ther would've been semi-state for the past 3 years, the marching hornets (our marching band) would have gone to semi-state. this year and three years ago were our best years (i was not in the band three years ago. i was in 7th grade).

birthday swap

one day it turned out to be a snow day. so, i grabbed my lap top and got on ravelry. i joined around 60 groups. one group happened to be the birthday swap 2008. the organizer pairs every one up based on their birthdays. she trys to get them within a few days if not on the same day. my partner's birthday was on january 13th while mine was on jan. 14th. i ot my package on the 12th. it was awesome. being my first swap and all.

it came with a journal. it is so pretty. a dark blue background with pink and white paisley. i love paisley. and i got the book the cool girl's guide to knitting. it has some really cute patterns. also ir came with two skeins of regia crazy color sock yarn. it has purple, turquoise, and yellow. also i got some pens and candy hearts. i really like the pens and apparently so did someone else in my last period class...it was stolen.

its official. i suck at math. i failed algebra two. and i'm trying not to fail biology now. i should be ok. but i wish that my icp (integrated chemistry/physics) teacher taught biology. it'd be easier. but i'm going to try hard.

fetching

so...i started the gloves thursday. its saturday and i am done. it could be because i was determined to finish them today but at least i did it. i like them but they feel like they are different sizes. but i may just be crazy. i do know for a fact that they are differnet lengths. i lost count on my first mitt and did the 4x1 rib in the middle for way to many rounds. but here are the pictures...

ok so here is a short story that explains a few things...last saturday i was looking on the loopy ewe and webs because i need a drop spindle and want yarn. my mom came over to the couch and told me that if i cleaned my room...super good...that she would give me two hundered dollars to spend on yarn and stuff. so i'm not sure if it is really gonna happen...i hope it does...but i started cleaning my room last night it took me awhile to just clean my top bunk...yes i have bunk beds. while cleaning i found my jaywalker pattern and i decided to start those after i finished a little cleaning. but for some reason i changed my mind. i decided to make fetching. so at 6 o'clock i started my knit-o-thon. i printed the pattern, picked the yarn, and for the first time ever i made a swatch. then i started. i didn't get much done before i went to bed. but when i went to school i knit and knit and knit. i knit during band. i knit during spanish and i knit during science. in science i finished the first mitt. and i started the second one. well that turned out to be not so much of a short story.

but back to fetching...i LOVE it. i haven't weaved in the ends yet but i keep trying it on. it looks amazing. i don't know what it is but it has something special that makes me feel accomplished. i don't really like gloves so these wll be cozy and for band they will be awesome. and if i change from trombone to sousa in marching band next summer...by the fall these will be great. also i should make some for some friends who play clarinet, flute or, any insturment with "buttons".

well i hope everyone had a great christmas and new years. i did. well i will write more later

the day after christmas!!

today is the day after christmas. and i am still admiring my christmas presents. i have my mom to think for that. i had discovered http://www.kpixie.com but my mom went on and bought everything i put in my cart. i had out something called a bundle in my cart. its when they pick out four skeins of South West Trading Company's Karaoke* of matching colors and send them to you. then i picked out some sock yarn that they ended up not having but they sent my mom an email and suggested another color way which is just as good if not better as the color i picked. also i got some needles an awesome tape measurer and some fiber...i need to buy a drop spindle for it. also i got a pink digital camera from my brother and his girlfriend.

well i hope everyone had a very merry christmas!! and i will write more later!!!

p.s. they had a bunch of other bundles to choose from but i picked the swtc karaoke one because it was the cheapest and i liked the element of surprise it gave.

7 days to christmas!!!

so my favorite holiday is going to be here in 7 days. less than that actually because it is almost ten p.m. on tuesday night. so its almost 6 days!! i love holidays. i learn so much about myself and other people. i love giving and recieving. its so fun to watch peoples faces when they open sometihng you made or something you thought so hard about and took time to find. but it is kind of sad...can't think of a better word...when the thing you thought this person would love doesn't actually like it.

but what i've learned is i like blogging. i have been on the computer a lot in the past week or so. mostly blogging and on ravelry. i've been adding pictures and what not.

something else i've been doing is contemplating doing a podcast. i love listening to them. and i feel like i could create one that other teens and other knitters in general would like. but i don't think my mom would let me do it. i am pretty independent for a 15 year old. but my mom is "nosey" i suppose. she needs to know time and dates pretty far in advance. lately she has been surprisingly laid back. i'm worried... :). well its getting kinda late considering i have school in the morning. ug school...i'll illaberate (is that even close to how to spell it??? i don't think so. i say that word quite often but have never had to spell it. i think i did pretty good) later...but maybe not.

my so called scarf

it is almost 7 days to christmas. i have been trying to find a scarf i could make for my mom. i finally remembered that i have this yarn from berroco in this multi tonal blue. and it is a slub yarn. i really like and i hope my mom will too. i'm using the pattern my so called scarf. the pattern looks woven. its from http://www.sheepinthecity.prettyposies.com/archives/000079.html so far so good. i will post pictures soon. hopefully tomorrow depending on if i get far on it and if i have school.

today, there wasn't any school. we got like 12+ inches where i live. they already have a two hour delay posted. the roads look clear so i am anticipating only the two hour delay. but i hope i'm wrong. this week is the last week before we start christmas break. last week we had monday and tuesday off so i hope that happens this week too. that would be amazing.

well i will write more later. hopefully i get readers soon!!

10 days til christmas

well the countdown to christmas is getting smaller and smaller. i have a little more than a week to finish two bags. they are the same purse but different colors and for two people. one is for my brother's girlfriend, allison and my best friend amber. i'm making the bag tasha from knitty. http://www.knitty.com/ISSUEsummer03/PATTtasha.html in the pattern the knitter made it in one color but i thougth it would look "better" i suppose in two colors. one bag is in brown and white...looks better than it sounds. the other is in black and white. on the black and white one i am going to use duplicate stitch to put a skull and crossbones. i hope it turns out like i think it will.

lately i have been spending a lot of my time blogging and on ravelry. on monday last week school was cancelled and in that time off i joined 60 groups on ravelry. i may have to cut it down because i am only active on a few of them. mainly my penpal group and teen knitters groups.

well i will write more later...more about me and my love of knitting and what not.
